Wow! It’s already 2014. I hope you are having a great start to the new year. I had a great time getting ready to publish this month. I am particularly proud of the “DIY Dining Room Chair Makeover” that we did for our friend, John. My husband and I worked on the project together. John really likes how they turned out, so do we. John says his family and friends like them too. My next project for John is to find a “thrifted” desk for his guest bedroom. I will paint it with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. I have never used this paint and I am looking forward to trying it out.view more..
For the article “It’s Not Easy Being Green” by Rita Cobb, the picture of the woman leaning over the trash barrel is ME! Although I don’t go around the neighborhood in heels, you can find me looking in the barrels on trash day. My husband gets embarrassed, but he is coming around. Like Rita said in her article, I find it amazing to see what people are sending to the landfill. I do my best to rescue what I can. In one of the barrels I opened a few days ago, someone had thrown out a perfectly good child’s backpack. I checked it thoroughly and there was nothing wrong with it. It didn’t smell either. I took it home and put it on the curb in front of our house. I didn’t need a backpack, but I thought someone in the neighborhood might. Sure enough, within a couple of hours a woman, who was walking her dog, picked it up.
